Explore the coastline and the Algarve on an adventurous road trip through the south of Portugal. Drive through scenic landscapes, discover picturesque villages, and end the day with a stunning view from your own minivan!
On this road trip, you'll discover the Algarve and the west coast of Portugal in your own minivan. You'll visit the surfers' village of Ericeira with its perfect waves, try to spot dolphins off the coast of Lagos, and spend the night at a vineyard in the countryside.
Southern Portugal is diverse and takes you to picturesque villages, high cliffs, and golden sandy beaches.
The Algarve is located in the south of Portugal and is special because of its breathtaking coastline with spectacular cliffs, hidden coves, and golden sandy beaches.
During this 8-day road trip, you'll discover the rich culture, stroll through charming towns, and get to know the traditional Portuguese architecture and local dishes. Along the varied coastline, there are several surf spots for all levels, perfect for surfing.
At the beginning of your road trip, you'll receive a navigation system that includes the entire route, along with a detailed roadbook containing all the information you need for your adventure in the Algarve!
This is the overview of your 8-day road trip through Portugal. Our itinerary takes you to the most beautiful places of the country. The overnight stops are already predetermined, but during the day you can decide which landmarks you wish to visit and how much time you spend there.

You'll be crossing Portugal in a Fiat Ducato (or similar), a minivan that's perfect for tackling all the roads with ease.
The car has a manual transmission and is equipped with camping gear. Are you choosing the surf package? Roof racks are available for your surfboards. Everything you need for a worry-free journey is on board!
The minivan is equipped with a solar panel for electricity, a phone holder for navigation, cooking utensils, and your own table and chairs. You can optionally book an outdoor shower. More detailed information about the equipment and car insurance can be found under the section practical information.
You'll spend each night in a different spot, alternating between campsites and camper places. Most of the overnight locations are close to the beach, so you can surf or start or end your day with a hike along the coast.
All campsites have sanitary facilities, and we have already reserved a spot for you, so you won’t need to worry about it upon arrival.

Damage Waiver
Accidents can happen quickly. That's why we offer you the option to add a damage waiver to your registration. This damage waiver costs you €37 per day and covers the car regardless of which travel companion is driving it. If you choose to take this damage waiver, you won't be asked to pay a deposit.
If you haven't taken out a damage waiver, you'll need to pay a deposit of €1000, and the deductible will be a maximum of €3000 in case of damage.

During your road trip, you have two culinary options:
In your minivan, you'll find supplies to cook. If you're up for experimenting with local ingredients, you can pick up groceries at various places along the way. The supermarkets we recommend can be found in the app.

Learn to surf on the coast of Arrifana!
Never surfed before? Then Arrifana is the perfect surf spot to get acquainted with this amazing sport for the first time. But even if you already have some surfing experience, you’ll find it’s a great place to be!
The consistent waves in the bay at Arrifana are perfect for both beginner and advanced surfers. With stunning views of the cliffs and a relaxed surf community, it's a great spot for a surf lesson.

Spot the most beautiful cliffs and dolphins in Lagos!
Hop on board and sail along the coastline of Lagos. The 3-hour tour departs from the Marina deLagos and takes you out into the Atlantic Ocean to spot wild dolphins in their natural habitat. Plus, you'll cruise along the cliffs and caves of Lagos—it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

During your road trip, you'll sleep right in the middle of a vineyard, surrounded by fragrant grapevines. Let your senses be awakened during a wine tasting, where the passionate owner will share everything about the craft of local wine production.
After the tour, it’s time for the best part: the tasting! Enjoy three (€20) or five (€25) wines, paired with a platter full of delicious Portuguese tapas. It's the perfect way to wrap up a day full of adventure.

Start your day with a kayaking trip along caves, towering cliffs, and beautiful beaches—a unique way to explore Sesimbra! You’ll paddle past Mule Cove, admire the impressive cliffs, and discover the mysterious Devil's Sea Cave. Eventually, you'll reach the pearl-white beach of Ribeiro do Cavalo, a hidden gem that's only accessible by water.
Your trip starts in Ericeira. We expect you on the first day at 2 PM at the first campsite to pick up your car.
You can come to the first campsite in Ericeira yourself on Saturday to check in and pick up your minivan. Both the bus and Uber are good, affordable options to get here from Lisbon.
We don't offer flights to Portugal ourselves. We recommend comparing different flight options through Google Flights. This way, you have the flexibility to choose where you're departing from and whether you want to spend a few extra days exploring Lisbon.
Make sure you arrive at Lisbon Airport (Humberto Delgado Airport) and definitely keep the weekly schedule in mind when booking your flights.

On the first day of your road trip (Saturday), we expect you at 3 PM at Lisbon airport. Your minivan will be ready at the first campsite where you’ll be staying in Ericeira. A transfer will take you there, and you'll receive a thorough briefing on how to use the minivan from our partner.
On the last day (Saturday), you need to return the car by 10 AM. We'll then take you back to Lisbon airport. From there, you can easily get to the city center by metro or taxi.
