Campsites
-
We have carefully selected each campsite so you can stay as close to the trail as possible while enjoying a true escape into nature without giving up comfort.
Campsite 1:
You’ll pitch your tents on a beautiful site with stunning sea views. As this is a small village, there won’t be any showers available. You can, however, use the nearby public toilets free of charge. You’ll also have access to a communal room, where you can attend the briefing indoors.
Campsites 2, 3 and 4:
These sites are either by the sea or surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes. They offer everything you need to recover after your days of hiking and enjoy your stay: hot showers, hairdryers, sometimes a washing machine, space to charge your electronic devices, tables and benches for enjoying your meals, and more. These campsites even have kettles, so you can prepare your freeze-dried meals without having to light your camping stove.
Shuttle on the island
-
All transfers during your stay on the Isle of Skye will be provided by a driver who will stay with your group for the whole trip. He / she will also attend the briefings with your guides and stay at the same campsites as you.
These transfers are included in the basic trip price and won’t incur any additional charges.
Guided trail
-
You’ll share this experience with several experienced guides. They’ll walk with you along the trails, with always one guide at the front and another at the back of the group to keep you safe. They’ll be there to help if you need assistance or run into difficulties. They also carry a GPS tracker with an emergency signal, so they can raise the alarm if necessary.
Every morning, you’ll receive a briefing with extra tips and advice.
It’s very important to walk at your own pace so you can keep going throughout the week. Your guides are there to adapt to everyone’s pace.
Documents
-
A valid passport is required to travel to Scotland and must be valid for at least six months after your return. Without a valid passport, you will not be allowed to enter the country.
In addition, the UK has introduced a new requirement: the ETA. This is a mandatory travel authorization that you must apply for online before departure. Without an ETA, you are not allowed to travel to the UK, so it’s extremely important!
Please note that processing an ETA application can take several days. Apply as soon as possible once your trip has been finalized. The fee is £20 (approximately €24) per person.
You can find more information about the ETA on the official website gov.uk.
Make sure you purchase your ETA from the official website! There are many online scams that can result in additional fees.
Travelbase App
-
After booking, you’ll get access to the Travelbase app. It contains all the practical information you’ll need before, during and after your trip, including tips, advice and everything you’ll need along the way. You also need to use the app to communicate with your guides.
The app is both your digital guide and your trip-planning tool. Install it before you leave so you always have all the information you need at your fingertips.
Options
When booking, you can choose to add the following options to your trip to Scotland.
€145 per person
LUGGAGE TRANSPORT
€145 per person
With our luggage transport option, you can hike light and carry only the essentials. Your belongings will be transported from one camp to the next while you make the most of your day on the trail.
Please note that everything you want transported must fit in a single bag. You can use a 90L duffel bag or a 70L hiking backpack. This bag must weigh no more than 15kg.
If you choose this option, please bring an additional backpack of around 40L alongside your transport bag to carry your hiking essentials (water, rain jacket and trousers, lunch, snacks, first-aid kit, fleece, etc.).
€49 per person, per shuttle
Shuttles
€49 per person, per shuttle
You’ll have 4 options to choose from:
- Day 1, shuttle from Edinburgh Airport to base camp (49€) -> Meet-up at 1 pm
- Day 1, shuttle from the Kyle side car park to base camp (free) -> Meet-up at 5:30 pm
- Day 7, shuttle from Staffin to Edinburgh city centre (49€) -> Arrival between 4 pm and 8 pm
- Day 7, shuttle from Staffin to the Kyle side car park (free) -> Arrival between 10 am and 2 pm
Although some of the Day 1 and Day 7 shuttles are free, please make sure to select them when booking so we can reserve enough seats.
For the airport shuttle, make sure you arrive well in advance at the meeting points so you don’t miss it.
As Staffin is connected to Edinburgh by very few roads, unfortunately we can’t give you a more precise arrival time at the car park or in Edinburgh on Day 7.
How to get there?
We do not offer flights for the Scotland Trail.
You can easily book flights to get to Edinburgh, then take our shuttle to reach the trail starting point (find out more here). You are free to book your transport for the dates that suit you best if you’d like to spend longer exploring Scotland, but make sure you arrive on time for the shuttle.
Please plan to arrive at the airport no later than 11:00 am. If this is not possible, we recommend arriving a day earlier.
Tip: Check Skyscanner or Google Flights to find affordable flights.

What can I expect?
Several factors go into rating a trail. The points below will give you a better idea of what to expect from the experience.
DISTANCE AND ELEVATION
- Climb higher, enjoy better views: Your hiking days will include plenty of ascents, but keep in mind that each one leads to postcard-worthy scenery.
- A steady pace is key: Some days cover a lot of ground. Keep a consistent rhythm to make progress without wearing yourself out, and enjoy the views along the way.
- Your efforts will pay off: Every summit offers a different panorama, from the Quiraing to the Storr’s pinnacles. It’s the perfect terrain to enjoy yourself without chasing performance.
WEATHER CONDITIONS
- Cinematic light: The sky plays with clouds, rain and sunny spells, creating spectacular contrasts and rainbow after rainbow.
- Refreshing wind: Gusts pick up the pace along the ridges and add an extra dimension to the adventure. With a good waterproof jacket and a warm layer, you’ll be ready for anything.
- Adventure spirit, safe setting: The Atlantic’s changeable weather is all part of the charm. Even if the rain joins you, the landscapes will remain just as grandiose… If not even more so!
TERRAIN
- Moorland and peat bogs: Sometimes-wet grass and dirt paths, boardwalks in places, and a few streams to cross. Gentle, lively and challenging, but never monotonous.
- Rocks and accessible trails: A few stone steps and muddy sections require care, but no technical skills. High-top, waterproof shoes will make all the difference.
- Easy navigation: Trail markers vary from one area to another. Some paths are unmarked, but your guides will show you the way.
